About the Film
Permission tells the extraordinary true story of Fr. Bob Bedard, a Catholic priest whose radical openness to the Holy Spirit sparked a movement that crossed denominational boundaries worldwide. As a young schoolteacher, Fr. Bob faced a tragic shooting in his own classroom, becoming a steady presence who helped lead his students through the trauma. That same courage and compassion would shape his life and ministry. Loved by Catholics, Evangelicals, and people of all denominations, Fr. Bob became a spiritual father to thousands. The community he founded—the Companions of the Cross—continues his legacy today, with two bishops and many priests on fire for the Holy Spirit and the renewal of the Church.
The film features powerful dramatic recreations and interviews with past students; priests of the Companions, evangelical leaders, close friends and colleagues of Fr. Bob including: Bishop Scott McCaig, Bishop Christian Riesbeck, Fr. Roger Vandenakker, Fr. Mark Goring and television evangelist Rev. Bill Prankard. .
